Surprise Wedding in The Cellar at Cactus Creek
Love Is _______________.
What is love to you? This weekend Love was a surprise wedding. Guess who got surprised?? THE BRIDE. When the groom first told us his plan we were skeptical to say the least. I was certain we were going to have a runaway bride situation - or a bruised up groom at minimum. But instead it was an insanely romantic secret wedding that was perfection.
These two have dated for five years and knew right out of the gate it was an exceptional connection. Fast forward to 2019. The girl is ready for a ring and the boy wants to do something special.
Seven days ago he asked the girl to be his bride. In that time she was able to pick a dress and plan her makeup and do nothing else but get excited. When she walked down the stairs to The Cellar she barely knew what awaited. Friends and family were waiting with fresh flowers in hand. They handed her the flowers and gave their words & advice with the lead "LOVE IS _____". Grown men wept. I definitely wept
Once she walked through the crowd to the make-do altar she had gathered a fresh flower from each of the guests so that a wild and organic bouquet filled her arms. She and her groom exchanged handwritten vows in which bride said "thank you for this wedding, it is the best gift anyone could have given me because I didn't have to worry about anything" (I'm para-phrasing).
The surprises kept coming when the groom sang their song to the bride - and the entire crowd joined the song using the printed lyrics that had been passed out before the event as they had their first dance. Seriously, it doesn't get more romantic than this moment.
All told we don’t recommend a surprise-the-bride wedding to everyone but this one worked.
